Fixer Upper Slots

Fixer Upper Slots
The past decade has seen an explosion of home improvement reality shows. It's no surprise that Rival Gaming has capitalized on this with Fixer Upper slots. This 5-reel, 20-payline game is exactly how it sounds in that you're fixing up an old house.

Is this a project worth undertaking? Find out as we cover Fixer Upper's atmosphere, graphics, music, betting options, special features, and return to player (RTP).

Use Your Tools to Build Big Payouts

In typical Rival fashion, this slot opens with an introduction video. You'll see a couple walking and holding hands. They then see a home for sale that means a lot of work. Many people would pass on this dilapidated house. But the couple begins envisioning what could it be with some TLC.

Once the intro scene ends, you're taken to the main game. This slot takes place in the home's basement, which doesn't exactly make the greatest setting. The graphics are okay in the background and symbols. But you can still tell that this game's visuals aren't on par with top slots.

One issue we have with Fixer Upper is the music, which sounds like it should be featured in a circus game. We found ourselves turning off the music after 5 minutes of playing.

Symbols include a ladder (wild), pipe wrench (bonus), woman (free spins), man, staple gun, paint brush, paint can, shovel, hammer & nails, saw, drill, and tape measure.

The wild ladder substitutes for everything except the wrench and woman to form wins. It also acts as a multiplier when appearing in payouts. The more wilds you get in a prize, the higher your multiplier will be (i.e. 2 = 2x; 3 = 3x). One more reason to love the ladder is that it offers the highest payout at 8,888 coins for five symbols.

Betting Options

Fixer Upper allows you to change coin size from $0.01 to $0.05, paylines from 1-20, and coins per line from 1-10. We're surprised at how low the maximum coin size is, because most Rival slots let you bet up to $0.25 or $1.00. But low rollers won't mind that the max coins size is so small.

Other options include autoplay, turning sound on/off, and changing game speed from medium to slow. Autoplay is an important option, because it keeps the reels spinning with your preferred betting options. But note that this is only available during real money play.

Fixer Upper Special Features - Put Your Handyman Skills to Work

Landing three or more wrench symbols on the reels triggers the bonus round. This sees you perform various handyman tasks to win money. These tasks include painting walls, plumbing, hunting gophers, and working on the building structure.

The woman triggers free spins when she appears at least 3 times on the reels. You'll receive 10 free spins for three symbols, 20 for four, and 50 for five. Also keep in mind that free spin prizes are multiplied by 3x. You'll still receive the increasing multiplier for extra wild symbols too.

Fixer Upper Slots RTP

RTP for Fixer Upper is 95.5%, which is average for an internet slot. This also falls in line with many other slots from Rival Gaming.

Fixer Upper Could Use More Work

In summary, this game's good points include the intro video, two bonus features, and a wild symbol that multiplies payouts.

Our favorite aspect of Fixer Upper is the bonus round, which includes a series of second-screen games. We like how Rival incorporates various elements of what it takes to fix up a home.

Downsides include the below-average graphics and what sounds like carnival music. You can at least turn the music off, but you have to deal with the graphics the entire time. That said, Fixer Upper is far from perfect. But it's not a bad slot if you enjoy second-screen bonus rounds.
